(<strong style=\"color: red\">Do not rush into reading the Bible without starting with prayers!<\/strong>) (e.g., you may start with a simple prayer like this: &#8220;Dear Lord, what will you be speaking to me today?)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Scripture Reading<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Get the following items ready in advance: your devotional notebook, paper, pen, and\/or electronic devotional articles so that you can easily write down the Bible verses, questions, and thoughts you have noticed! You are encouraged to open your Bible and vocally read out the scriptures (Try to practice this reading method daily or once a week)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scripture Reading: Matthew Ch. 8 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Meditation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Take a moment to quietly reflect on today&#8217;s Scriptures. Through such exercises, let God&#8217;s Word be gradually written into our hearts and be inscribed to our mind.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Devotional<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Read the devotional articles prepared by CBCLWA (<strong style=\"color: red\">*Read the Bible first before reading any devotional materials.<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">vv.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1-34) In Matthew Chapter 8, Jesus switched\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">his<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0focus from teaching\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">his<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0disciples on the mount, to teaching the common people at the foot of the mountainside. In today\u2019s message, Jesus contacted many people, and had performed many miracles as follow: healing the sick, calming the storm,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">casting out evil spirits. All these achievements reflected\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">his<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0authority over the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nature\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and the spiritual world. In fact, most of the time, Jesus listens to people\u2019s pleading for help. When we walk with Jesus, do not forget to ask Him for help. Let Jesus know our need<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Please pay attention to this type of action. It is not simply let Jesus know what I need, it is to express your feeling to Him.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Please note that such a move is not to let Jesus know what I want, but to say to Him:\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI admit that He know all of my needs. He is also the almighty God who will satisfy me and fill me up.\u00a0 He is a God who supplies all my needs in life.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When we understand this concept, we will not worry or feel anxious if our prayers are not answered\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">by\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">our almighty God right away. We know that we must wait patiently for our God\u2019s timing.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This moment of peace will help us control our lust, so we will not be tempted by it.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This moment of peace will also help us adjust our unreasonable want, so we will not be overpowered by it.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In today\u2019s passage, from the conversation between Jesus, the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pharisees<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jesus\u2019 d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">isciples, we can witness our Lord\u2019s definition\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">or \u201cfollowing Him.\u201d We can reflect on evaluating our hearts to truly follow Jesus.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Do I boast,\u201d Oh Jesus, no matter where you go, I will always follow\u00a0you<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the next sentence will be,<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d Please<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0wait for me because I have some important matters to attend first.\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ese are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">our common reactions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">attitude<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">toward Jesus<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, obviously<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0I am not on the right trac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">k<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to follow my Lord<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. If I am actually\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">following\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">my own\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">will<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, it will be\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">self-deceiving<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Am I willing to suffer in order to follow Jesus? Am I willing to make sacrifices? Am I willing to leave everything behind to follow our Lord?<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lastly, we witnessed that there was a demon possessed man in the region of the Gadarenes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. He finally got freedom because of Jesus, but the others focused only on the loss of pigs. They even asked Jesus to leave their region. In their opinion, they treasure money more than human\u2019s life.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Have my\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">core values<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0change<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0because of Jesus? Will my next step be adjusting my life to follow Jesus? Following Him step by step?
