(<strong style=\"color: red\">Do not rush into reading the Bible without starting with prayers!<\/strong>) (e.g., you may start with a simple prayer like this: &#8220;Dear Lord, what will you be speaking to me today?)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Scripture Reading<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Get the following items ready in advance: your devotional notebook, paper, pen, and\/or electronic devotional articles so that you can easily write down the Bible verses, questions, and thoughts you have noticed! You are encouraged to open your Bible and vocally read out the scriptures (Try to practice this reading method daily or once a week)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scripture Reading: Matthew Ch. 18 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Meditation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Take a moment to quietly reflect on today&#8217;s Scriptures. What is their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">perception<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of heaven? Usually when we\u00a0ask\u00a0\u201cWho\u2019s the boss here?\u201d, we seem to want to know \u201cwho has the final say here?\u201d And\u00a0often times\u00a0we want to think we are the one who has the final say.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">W<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hen the disciples asked th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0question, Jesus instead called over a child<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the least powerful\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">or the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">least\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">capable among\u00a0them, and\u00a0said \u201c<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To better\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">understand what Jesus meant<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">let\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0look at this\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">from two different angles<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. First, children are simple and humble<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Second<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ly<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the Kingdom of Heaven is the Kingdom of God, where\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">God<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0rules. We\u00a0have to\u00a0change ourselves to be humble like a child so that God can rule in our heart. In other words, people\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">conceited\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cannot see their own sins<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. They\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nor\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">even\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for them to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">enter its doorsteps!\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jesus\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">went on to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">emphasize\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">that no one shall stumble or despise any of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">little ones<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who believe<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in Him.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Remember what Jesu said<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, \u201c<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dear brothers and sisters, there are some more characteristics in children that adults\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">might not have<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0For instance,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hildren\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">teachable<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">willing to submit to authority<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and they are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">often enthusiastic about many things. Let us always remind ourselves to be more childlike<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to humble ourselves<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, submitting ourselves\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">God\u2019s sovereignty. Let us\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">simply entrust our hearts to be shaped and molded by God and be a disciple of the Lord. Do not compete for fame and recognition<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o not divide ourselves into groups based on perceived status. Do not look down on others because of your pride, and do not cause others to stumble.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">vv.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">15-20) Jesus\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">continued\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">his teaching<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, saying<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIf your brother offends you<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f(or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s against you<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0how should you deal with it?\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are specific steps to solve this<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he objective in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">all\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">situations is always to gain your brother back<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">whether\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the case\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">personal or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">whether\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">it involve<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0a group of two or three people or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a larger\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">group such as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the whole church.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f it gets serious enough, the church must act\u00a0as a whole to\u00a0shun th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e one who sin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">just as it is written in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">verse\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">17<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAnd if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile.\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Dear brothers and sisters, God\u2019s will for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">his\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">church is to be holy and pure. Though it is difficult to deal with our sin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, rest assured that our Heavenly Father will lead\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">us\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">protect and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">re<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">store o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ur brother,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">only\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">if\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">we\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gather i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n the name of Jesus Christ<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0b<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">efore God<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">put aside\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">all of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">our personal opinions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0or<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0prejudices<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and then be united wholeheartedly in the presence of the Lord.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">vv.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">21-35) This passage gives us clarity when it comes to learning the lesson of forgiveness. Many times, we act just like that wicked servant without mercy<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for others<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Why is that?\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Here we can see at least two reasons<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:134,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">First,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sometimes\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">we are not trying to forgive<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0them<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0from the bottom of our hearts<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
