(<strong style=\"color: red\">Do not rush into reading the Bible without starting with prayers!<\/strong>) (e.g., you may start with a simple prayer like this: &#8220;Dear Lord, what will you be speaking to me today?)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Scripture Reading<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Get the following items ready in advance: your devotional notebook, paper, pen, and\/or electronic devotional articles so that you can easily write down the Bible verses, questions, and thoughts you have noticed! You are encouraged to open your Bible and vocally read out the scriptures (Try to practice this reading method daily or once a week)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scripture Reading: Mark Ch. 11 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Meditation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Take a moment to quietly reflect on today&#8217;s Scriptures. Through such exercises, let God&#8217;s Word be gradually written into our hearts and be inscribed to our mind.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Devotional<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Read the devotional articles prepared by CBCLWA (<strong style=\"color: red\">*Read the Bible first before reading any devotional materials.<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(vv.1-15) Many people are familiar with the account of Jesus\u2019 triumphal entry into Jerusalem, how he sent his disciples to retrieve a colt in an unexpected way. As he rode the colt into the city,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cmany\u202fspread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields.<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">And those who went before and those who followed were shouting,\u202f\u2018Hosanna!\u202fBlessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Blessed is\u202fthe coming\u202fkingdom of\u202four father\u202fDavid!\u202fHosanna\u202fin the highest!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cHosanna\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0originally means \u201csave\u201d or \u201csavior\u201d. The word is used here as a shout of praise. In addition, the proclamation,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cBlessed is\u202fthe coming\u202fkingdom of\u202four father\u202fDavid!<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0expressed the anticipation by the people of that time of the eminent arrival of the Messiah as the O<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ld\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">estament<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0prophesied, a king who would come to restore Israel. As for us today, we have all the more reason to raise our voice in praise as a people who are brought into the kingdom of God by the salvation through Jesus. We long even more for the return of Jesus. Let us remember take a moment to give praise and thanks to our Lord Jesus!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">(vv.12-21) When Jesus comes again, He will bring righteous judgment, like when he cursed the fig tree that had leaves but no fruit. The cursing of the fig tree reminds us of the need to live a spiritual life that bears fruit. But more importantly, the leafy fig tree with no fruit warns us against superficial expressions of piety while the heart is full of malice. God detests and curses a spiritually deceitful life!<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In the temple, Jesus was exceptionally angered at the sight of people turning God\u2019s house of prayer into a marketplace. There are two lessons here for us to always keep in mind. The first pertains to how we regard our physical place of worship \u2013 the sanctuary. It ought to be set apart as holy. Not only should it be clean and orderly, how the sanctuary is used should also be pure. The second lesson applies to the people using the sanctuary, namely us. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cOr\u202fdo you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?\u202fYou are not your own,<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">for you were bought with a price.\u202fSo\u00a0glorify God in your body.\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Our bodies serve as temples of the Holy Spirit, and therefore must be set apart as holy and kept pure. Any violations of its sanctity in the sight of God must be rectified and made clean.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We ought to remind ourselves to apply the principle of holiness in how we treat our place of worship and prayer. Similarly, we ought to take care in how we treat our bodies so that we may better glorify God!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">(vv.22-26) After the disciples saw the fig tree Jesus cursed had withered, Jesus began to teach them about having faith in prayer. Jesus told his disciples that\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">whatever you ask in prayer,\u202fbelieve that you\u202fhave received<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">it, and it will be yours.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">The key to understanding these words lies in these three things:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To whom you are praying:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Pray to a God who moves mountains. When you pray, bring not only faith, but also search your heart as you approach God.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The result of prayer:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0The desired outcome of every prayer ought to be \u201cGod\u2019s will be done.\u201d May Jesus\u2019 prayer at Gethsemane and when he prayed on the cross,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIt is finished,\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0teach us to pray for the right things.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(vv.27-33) When the religious leaders questioned Jesus\u2019 authority, Jesus responded by asking them,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Was the baptism of John\u202ffrom heaven or from man?\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0They were afraid to answer Jesus\u2019 question directly. If they answered, \u201cFrom heaven,\u201d then they would be indirectly admitting that Jesus\u2019 authority was also from heaven. Yet they could not answer, \u201cFrom man,\u201d for they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet.\u00a0So\u00a0they answered Jesus,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cWe do not know.\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0When dealing with skeptics who deny the truth even when confronted with the facts, Jesus\u2019 response was,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cNeither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Remember how John described Jesus? The Jesus standing in front of them was the same Jesus about whom John had proclaimed,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Behold, the\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lamb<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">of<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">God<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, who takes away the sin\u202f<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">of\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">the world!\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559738&quot;:120,&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong style=\"color: blue\">Pray<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Give thanks to God for His enabling us to read the Scriptures and for our response for living out the Word of God today!
